Here's my new net, BUT Connecting to Brisbane OR Sydney has a ping of over 200. EVERY TIME.
I called Optus about it and they said that you don't connect to an exchange, but the plan I go through uses the Mobile exchanges or whatever.
THIS IS HELL FOR GAMING
But, I have until September the 14th to convince my mum it's shit
And that we should just get normal Cable or a faster ADSL Speed.

man im pretty sure mine hella worse than that lol
Maybe in Speed... But look @ the ping. I can't game at all with it.
AT ALL

yea my net itself is shit but at least im getting 50-120 ping for cod2

, sux to be you right now
my ping up around the 200's but good luck zach trying to convince ur rents
X, its Optus Wireless Fusion. When they came door to door *sigh* they said it was ADSL2+, but it's still too slow to be ADSL 2+ isn't it?
That's the fastest speed I've ever had with it unfortunately. I think it's just wireless Broadband.
My internet that I WAS on is ADSL, 512kb/s. So that was crap. lol. BUT it's ping is alot better for some reason. Even in Vent.
Which I really don't understand, because this is at least twice the download speed.
That is not ADSL2+.
Talk to your parents saying you got jipped and lied to, make them angry at optus, works for me

I just tested and my ping is only 52... my internet speed is really bad though... I'm with exetel btw... just tested to america... 212 ping.. thats not good xD
OK, so far this last week, I have had 4 angry Optus customers complaining about very poor connection. The thing is these guys are on the DSL2+ fusion plans and their pings are way above 300!!
Personally, like I'm doing with some of these clients, I am claiming 'breach of contract' by Optus' as they are not providing a product up to standards as per their advertisements.
I am also going to be taking their cases to the department of fair trading, for false advertising.
IMHO, this is all due to the 2 'cable cuts' that they have recently suffered. I think they have lied about them being fixed and have just stuffed everyone's data via a less capable route.
My last trace at one client showed that his packets were going to Brisbane, then were being sent by wireless to Sydney hence the massive slow-down for Brisbane / Gold coast clients...
If any of you are interested, I will take your cases into consideration, and approach optus as representative for all. If there's one thing I can do well, it's to scare the crap out of Telco's and ISP's. Their tendency is to wrap you up in a 'cocoon' of lies; "There's nothing wrong with your connection mr Jones", when in fact there is everything wrong.
So, it's time for action: Approach Optus with your problem, be polite but firm, maintain your stance on 'false advertising' ignore all the bullshit they will sling at you.
If nothing is fixed, then it's time to involve the TIO, and the ACMA, if that fails then it's time to let channel 7 know about it (and I have inside contacts there)
