Ok, so heres just a few things i wanted to point out in relation to the 3.0 patch, WotLK and the transition process.
According to the recently updated wowhead.com splash, the release date for WotLK will be 13th of November, 2008. I don't know where they are getting thier sources, but wowhead wouldnt exactly do something like that without good authority.
So basically, what has been happening is that with the word of the 3.0 patch, a MASS sellout has been happening. If you want to level your professions, DO IT NOW. Prices are so goddamn cheap its insane. Enchanting mats are at about one third of their normal price, primals are almost half. Nows your chance to get your professions up to 375; even if you just stockpile the mats now and save them for later.
The 3.0 patch coming out tomorrow means that Inscription will become available. This means lowby herbalism mats prices will go through the roof, as inscription needs plants from herbalism. So if your a herby, nows the chance to finally make some money from your profession.
In terms of what you need to keep for Wrath; well, ive been looking through the professions data collected from the beta; pretty much nothing is needed in Wotlk. The only thing ive seen so far is two level 80 BOP wands enchanters can make from 25 Void Crystals - this is basically a reward for replacing all the 70 epics with greens from Wotlk. Even if you arent fully epicd, you could just buy out 25 voids now while they are cheap. But, one thing to keep in mind is, these wands look good now but thats in comparison to BC wands. There will probably be a lot better stuff in WotLK end game, so i personally wouldnt waste my money on it (as im fully epicd now, i will have more than enough void crystals to craft my wand if i want to).
For long term players; hold onto your mats for 6 months. Remember how much end game pre-BC mats cost these days? It will be similiar. HOWEVER, only keep the items needed purely to level. Dont bother saving items such as Primal Nethers, Void Crystals and Nether Vortexes - noone needs them post-BC as they will purely want to level beyond 375, and not make epics at that level (just as you dont want to make epics that are 300 profession level). Keeping items such as Adamantite Ore, Greater Planar Essences, etc could become very valuable.
In terms of raiding; Project Aus are now running kara together with half-pugs. This is more for practice than anything else, and so we hope that with the release of WotLK we can level quickly and then work on raiding very shortly after release. Apparently the progression in WotLK is much better than BC, with each instance having 5,10 and 25 man versions of the instance. As more information becomes available, we will begin to look at exactly what progression paths will be needed. And this time attunement processes will be involved; so no more of this rocking up to raids in greens!
