I was planning to do this on Sunday, but unfourtunate and unforseen circumstances have left me stranded on Melbourne - and I now fly out on Sunday. So I'm doing this now.
I'm leaving the clan (and joining Armada Pb to those who care_. My decision is mostly down to game issues, and for you to understand the reasons for this decision I'm going to talk about my first couple of months in the clan.
Back when I first joined, this is about the time that the BF2 division was basically starting up. When I joined, for the first six months, this was a Halo 2 Clan. There were basically two active BF2 players: me and NDH-Turkalj. But over the space of six months to a year (from about, September '05 to, geez... May '06? About that), Halo 2 kinda died off (I have a strong suspicion that the rot was going from the beginning of 3.0 about 3 months after I joined but oh well) and was replaced by BF2.
As you know, not long after, we got a BF2 server paid purely out of NDH-Turkalj's pocket (like so much else) and basically the six of us (me, turk, rockr, x, techno and s7orm) turned very quickly into something resembling the modern PAus head. I was BF2 div leader at the time (not that I did much, lol) and those were by far the best gaming days I've ever had - the couple of months after the server rollout, and especially after the SF server came online.
I make this detour to make a simple point. This clan, slowly but surely, turned from a Halo Clan in the 2.0 days - and a very well-established one at that from what I saw - to a very small BF2 clan with only a few dedicated gamers who each knew each other well. Over time, out of the control of basically anyone, Halo 2 vanished along with members like Hazrdous, Leanest and others whose names I can't recall.
In my opinion this is what has happened to Project Aus in the last few months and especially since the Genesis incident where we basically lost the entire BF2 division. In my opinion, this is a clan that no longer plays FPS - go on our vent yourself now, take a look at where people are, and challenge me on that if you wish. CoD4 is waaaaay too inactive to be counted as a division.
My feeling is that this is now a WoW and something-else clan. I don't resent that. It happens, and it's beyond my power - I can't and won't tell people what they should play.
But it is no longer the place for me. I don't play WoW and never will. I play battlefield, call of duty, WiC and eve. And I see many, many, many more people playing those games - many of them, to note, are people I know very well and in many cases trust (to the point of giving out passwords). No longer the case here.
And so, I leave, and I leave behind countless great memories. And to thankyous.
First, thanks to anyone who wore the Project Aus tags and was on the same server at me at the time and on vent. This includes all the vanished members from the old BF2/2142 days, and everyone and I mean everyone who's left.
But my biggest thankyou have to go to the following (and this may surprise many): realaussierockr, X, Turk, Techno and recoil71. Whatever your political decisions may have been, you guys gave me the best games ever. A big ty (and leave the bomber for me).
On a final note, about X, and also about recoil71 somewhat. And about grudges in general. I don't hold them. As one person (I think it was MadDogMickyG) said, "if I wanted politics, I'd join the ALP!". I honestly have - to many people odd - detachment and lack of passion for these things (and during important meetings or political discussions you'll hear the sounds and statments that point to me gaming even during the biggest of meetings - cause I don't see it as that important). This is a gaming clan. You're here to have fun, not to worry about some political bullcrap and especially not to bear grudges and anger against other people whom you've never met and your only contact has been in a medium designed for you to enjoy yourself.
I mean, that's what we're all here for, isn't it?
Goodbye.
PS. One more thing. To those who accuse me of being weak, bailing out at a tough time and not sticking with your mates, well. I have no mates here left to stick with, and I dare you to see what I've seen in the clan over the past three years and stick here as long as I have.

Mate it was fun playing wic with you, and if I can remember properly you were the first PAus member that I talked to via voip
