i have been doing this for sometime, PURELY as a statement; this award is a FUCKING JOKE.

Tokio Hotel? Some commercial wankers whose only claim to fame is that their emofuckwit lead singer looks like a chick? FOAD
Green Day? Granted, they were a highly influential punk rock-turned pop-punk rock, but they definately aren't the greatest.
Britney Spears/Christina Aguilera? Not even deserving of a mention in any awards. Shitty whores whose life as a cheap prostitute were only stopped by a lucrative record deal with a studio that can change even my voice to sound great, are not deserving of anything. They dont write their own music, the sound on the record is only reminiscent of their original voice, and they mime on stage. Please Die, Slowly.
U2? Ok, absolutely great band. But Bono can go to hell for his pretentious faggotry. Its ridicolous, and anyone that swallows his PR bullshit can fuck off too.

couldn't agree more rockr, Aussie idol's "Rock" special pissed me off something fierce as well.

i died a little inside when The Pretender came on. one of the only real rock songs on there....and it was slaughtered.

Noone will ever cover the brilliance of Dave Grohl with any form of respect left afterwards. He is far to amazing for anyone to cover and the band has a very obscure method of songwriting, so the idol band sounded shit trying to mimic it.

what pissed me off most was that when i commented to my family "none of those bands are rock" (in the adds), they just looked at me and said "what are you talking about of coarse they are". its really shit what mainstream consider Rock these days, or even music.

mainstream in general can go to hell.
what is being fed to the kids these days?
why must pop ruin everything that is good?
why can't we have good music like there was back in 'nam?
why is it that when a pop idol does a remake it sounds shit, and when a metal band does it they make it sound fucking awsome? (like Children of Bodom made "Oops i did it again" sound fucking awesome.)
why can't anybody understand rap? would we want to?

the truth is music isn't what it used to be, and it never will be. it all goes by the motto "Sex Sells", they don't have the vocal chords to make anything sound good so they sound edit it and then sell it by putting naked ladies in their videos and live shows (in which they can't sing.)

luckily for us, we don't listen to or enjoy mainstream, we listen to Rock.
Rockers are the only ones left who can actually sing live (when they try), the only ones with genuine musical talent, bringing us awesome guitar solos, and, most important they write their own songs, most with true meaning. (of coarse you realize that im excluding Rap, because rap isn't singing or music)

To tell you the truth Rick Astley deserves that award shit loads more than the rest, his song is easy on the ears, and he isn't an up himself superstar that sells his body to get his music sold (*shudder* just realized what i said). i'm glad 4Chan is Rick-Rolling MTV, they deserve it.
