As any veteran of Project Aus would know, we are always desperately in need of donations into the clan. Here is a small FAQ and information on how to go about joining the program.
Part 1: Unsure About Donating
Wait, why do you need money?
The running of Project Aus has been extremely costly for me personally over the years, in time and money. Along with the countless hours put into the clan, a lot of money has been spent on several things; web servers, software, ventrilo and game servers. One previous admin spent thousands of dollars in server costs keeping a couple of game servers running. I personally don't mind paying for the web server, as i use it for several personal things. But I simply can't afford to flip the bill for ventrilo and game servers. I am still in school and don't have a job, let alone one that could cover those costs.
So What exactly would the money be used for?
The money would only be used for Project Aus activities, all within the best interests of the clan. This includes ventrilo, and assuming we get enough donations, game servers for Project Aus.
How can I be sure that my money is being used just for Project Aus? How do I know you aren't taking the money yourself?
Firstly, I do not even have access to the Project Aus accounts. As I am still a minor, I feel that clan members would feel more comfortable about donating if someone else holds the account. The Project Aus funds manager is in charge of the account, and we ensure that transcriptions of ALL bank processes are listed on the site available for viewing by administrators.
It is also based on trust. I have been running this clan for several years now and if you are still unsure, you can simply speak to some of the senior members; I'm sure they would be willing to vouch for me.
Part 2: Donating Methods
So what are the methods of donating?
There are 3 types of donations you can make.
Single Donation
A single donation is a donation of any amount that you make to us in a one-off payment. You can do this as little or as much as you like.
Project Aus Silver Account
The Project Aus Silver account is the cheapest of the two options available in the Donation Program. At $10 AUD per month, this will entitle you to special access into the two private forums which require Silver-level access. The first forum, the General Forum, is a place where normal posting restrictions are lessened, and posts are not as harshly moderated. There are still some exceptions. Special insider news about the clan will be posted here and you can have your say on the latest Project Aus issues. Over time, we hope to also include special raffles for subscribers to win cool prizes. The other forum is the Auction Room, where we will auction off certain items at cheap prices. People participating in the donation program may also auction items off, at the discrepancy of the admins. Any Merchandise will also have a discount. Private ventrilo channels may also be available for use. If your donations are not made for the month, then you will lose access rights.
Project Aus Gold Account.
The Project Aus Gold account is the high-end option available in the Donation Program. At $20 AUD per month, this will entitle you to ALL silver-level access rights (read above for more). On top of that, better discounts on any merchandise released, and a very special forum for Gold members. The Content room is not spoken about in public, but has almost no restrictions on the content posted, and is regularly filled by the admins with all sorts of goodies.
Along with that, Gold members also get something very cool. Gold members are given personalised Project Aus emails, and a subdomain for web hosting. So the email can be either whatever@projectaus.com or whatever@subdomain.projectaus.com
The subdomain is whatever.projectaus.com. You will be give essentially unlimited space to upload whatever you want (although legal restrictions still apply). You can use it as your very own website if you wish! Or it can just be a place for you to upload files to share with people.
